GERMANY’s RECKLESS FINAL FRONTIER — Germany unveiled a new space security strategy today, focused on building strong space infrastructure to protect on-orbit interests. The strategy calls for the identification of space threats and to develop responses, including deterrence building and international cooperation. The launch of the strategy came after German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius pledged to invest 35 billion euros on military space capabilities by 2030. He noted that the increased militarization of space — seen, for example, in Ukraine — means it is essential to develop “deterrence and defense capabilities.”
