The urgency that the US join with China, Russia, Pakistan and the other countries in the region in building modern infrastructure in Afghanistan — and the hysterical response from the UK, terrified that the U.S. pull out from the “endless war” in Afghanistan, without getting permission from the British, spells the end of the imagined “Global Britain,” and could well bring about the well-deserved end of the British Empire.
